This document provides information for the novice Internet user about
using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP).  It explains what FTP is, what
anonymous FTP is, and what an anonymous FTP archive site is.  It shows
a sample anonymous FTP session.  It also discusses common ways files
are packaged for efficient storage and transmission.  This document is
the product of the Internet Anonymous FTP Archives Working Group of
the IETF.

This memo provides information for the Internet community.  This memo
does not specify an Internet standard of any kind.  Distribution of
this memo is unlimited.

This announcement is sent to the IETF list and the RFC-DIST list.
