A new Request for Comments is now available in online RFC libraries. RFC 1702: Title: Generic Routing Encapsulation over IPv4 networks Author: S. Hanks, T. Li, D. Farinacci & P. Traina Mailbox: stan@netsmiths.com, tli@cisco.com, dino@cisco.com, pst@cisco.com Pages: 4 Characters: 7,288 Updates/Obsoletes: none In an earlier memo (RFC 1701), we described GRE, a mechanism for encapsulating arbitrary packets within an arbitrary transport protocol. This is a companion memo which describes the use of GRE with IP. This memo addresses the case of using IP as the delivery protocol or the payload protocol and the special case of IP as both the delivery and payload. This memo also describes using IP addresses and autonomous system numbers as part of a GRE source route. This memo provides information for the Internet community. This memo does not specify an Internet standard of any kind. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. This announcement is sent to the IETF list and the RFC-DIST list. Requests to be added to or deleted from the IETF distribution list should be sent to IETF-REQUEST@CNRI.RESTON.VA.US. Requests to be added to or deleted from the RFC-DIST distribution list should be sent to RFC-REQUEST@NIC.DDN.MIL.
