Connection Measurements: www.potaroo.net

This web page contains data collected on measuring the connection success rate for connections to the web server located on www.potaroo.net. The objectives of the measurement, and the methodology used to collect this data are described in the article: Flailing IPv6. The data here is updated daily.

An associated report reports on the profile of IPv6 access recorded as part of this measurement activity.

6. IPv6 Connection Failures by IPv6 Access Protocol (*)

* This data set includes use of an IPv6 literal as a URL and uses a local IPv4 address for the reverse 6to4 path

7. 6to4 Connection Failures by Return Path Source Address (**)

** This data set compares the failure rate of 6to4 connections using the 6to4 anycase address (199.88.99.1) for the return 6to4 packet and connections that use the server's local IPv4 address for the return 6to4 packet. The tests are conducted over the same client set.

8. Connections by URL Type (***)

** This data set compares client's IPv6 capability by testing each client with 3 URLs: dual-stack (the DNS has both A and AAAA records), V6 only (where the DNS only has an AAAA records), and V6 literal (where the V6 address is embedded in the URL, bypassing the DNS).

9. Teredo Connections (****)

** This data set shows the failure rate of Teredo connections using an IPv6 Literal URL. Teredo uses a 2 step connection process, firstly using an ICMP6 echo exchange, then the 3-way TCP handshake.
